    June Conditions

    Hi All,

We're off to Orlando in the last 2 weeks of June - staying at Highlands Reserve, I think I'm more excited about it than my girls !

In a similiar theme to a previous post what can we expect with respect to weather, queues and insects - is this the month(s) for mosquitos for example and if so what is the best way to counter them ? are the Disney parks likely to be crowded to the point where morings and evenings would be best ?

Any advice would be much appreciated

Mark, Tracy and 4 excited girls

We were in Florida for the first two weeks in June last year, the weather was fantastic just be prepared for afternoon showers although these very quickly dry up.
I've never had a problem in Florida with mosquitos at any time I've been although drop me in Spain and I'm plagued[msnscared]
As for the parks we didn't think they were too busy, we didn't have to wait long for rides. Magic Kingdom is a park were you want to get there as early and stay as late as you can. This year I plan to go for opening time, then take the monorail to a disney resort for dinner, then come back for the night parade and Wishes.

You will have a fantastic time.[msnsmile2]

You are so right to be excited because you are going to have a great time.
The weather will be pretty hot but not too humid. If you can make a really early start on your first few days because that is when your body clock will allow for early stars then get to the parks very early.
Magic Kingdom has a neat opening ceremony and if its your first visit it is a great start. Don't forget the park may open at 9:00am but you need to be going through the car park gates an hour before that for Magic Kingdom.
This routine is good for those first few days when your waking early anyway.
As for bites you shouldn't have problems unless you are by water in the evening but I always carry a little pen called After Bite. If you use it when you think you felt a bite or saw an insect on one of the children, then it prevents any after itch or swelling.

Do you buy this here or in the US? sounds like a good idea to carry one.

You can get them in the UK, I usually carry one - it looks like a white pen. It has got a smell of amonia to it but the smell doesnt last long and it is affective.

They are very good Paula. They fit so easily into a pocket or waist- bag.
    I get mine over there.
They are made by a company called Tender Corp who have a web site.
The active ingredient is amonia so only to be issued to adults.
They are safe because of the way it is dispensed via a pressure pad.
I have never had to use it much but it has been very good when I have needed it.

We always choose to go in June for a number of reasons.
    Flights are cheaper.
Some villas count as low/mid season so less expensive.

Queues seem to be much smaller than at other times in the summer.
Depending on when in June you go all schools are on (American, British and South American) so it can be a lot quieter.

Yes it can be rainy in the afternoon but that is Florida and it rarely spoils your day. In fact last year we got very little rain and the days we did get some it happened and dried up in no time.

Weather is not quite so hot as high summer.

Friends or ours went first 2 weeks in July and queued for an hour for rides we walked straight on.

Everyone has their fave times to visit and June is certainly mine.

I am sure you will have a fabulous time - soooooooooooooo jealous!

I would say that it is a great time to go. The weather will be warm but not over hot, and not to humid.

You should have no problem with insects, and whilst the parks will be busy you should not have to wait very long.

    Hi Mark, Tracy and girls

You are just going to have the most fantastic time. June is a brilliant time to go for all the reasons outlined above. If you are prone to being bitten (as I am) you might want a quick spray of any Avon Skin so Soft product if you are going to be near water during the evening. Have a wonderful holiday.

We have been over in June, many years ago now, but it was fantastic! Occasional short sharp showers at around 4pm, and humidity was fine. Lots of sun and parks were REALLY great for numbers!! Have a great time!! Of course you will[msncool][msnwink]
