    2 centre holiday, any advice?

    Hello,

This is my first post, so I'm not sure if I'm in the right place or not, but here goes.

We've never been to Florida before and I'm planning a 2 or 3-week holiday for April/May 2007. I was thinking of renting a villa in Orlando for 1 or 2 weeks, then renting a villa on the Gulf Coast for the other week.

Does this sound like a good idea, or am I just doubling up on the hassle involved in arranging a holiday?

We will be travelling with kids (under 4yrs) & grandparents.

Am I best to stay in one spot, and make day trips to the other, or are the distances too much with kids involved?

If anyone has any thoughts on this please let me know.

PS: I've been browsing this site for a few days now, from the looks of it I've come to the right place...

A week on the Coast is a great Idea. I would highly recommend the Rotunda area, it is unspoilt and wonderful, some lovely beaches where we used to spend ages collecting fossilised sharks teeth and watching dolphins! Sunsets from the boardwalk are the best I have ever seen (and I have seen a few).
When choosing a villa's go for quality, I never understand the logic in folks who try to look for the cheapest option when choosing holiday accommodation. There are many wonderful villas to choose from on this site.

Hi Shane welcome to the forum. It is a good idea to stay round Disney in a villa, and a week in a villa on the coast. Why not put in a request for villas in both areas, as there are plenty to choose from. Go to the sites at the top of the page. Enjoy choosing.

    Hi Shane,

Welcome to the forum. You have definately come to the right place to get advice on organising a trip to Florida.

A week or two in a villa in Orlando followed by a week in a villa on the coast would be a perfect combination. There is so much to see and do in Orlando you would be kept busy and then the beautiful beaches along the Gulf coast are the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries before heading home.

Like Barbara says check out the sites at the top of the page for a great choice of places to stay in both areas. Renting homes direct from the owner is very straight forward so there really shouldn't be to much hassle in arranging it at all, it's just choosing that will cause the headaches. Have fun [8D]

    Hi Shane
This is exactly what we did on our first ever trip to Florida. A week at the coast is a fantastic way to relax after the all the theme parks and shopping in Orlando and no way is it twice the work in planning, just twice the fun to enjoy[msnwink]

If you can manage 3 weeks, then 2 weeks in Orlando followed by a week on the Gulf Coast is the ideal way to go, in my opinion.
We used to do that when my son was small.
You will find a fabulous selection of homes in both areas on the links above and don't forget to read the wealth of information in the Florida Guides. New guests to the site often miss the guides and they are an invaluable source of info for your holiday planning.

Welcome to the site and have a great time planning your trip.

I would definitely recommend 2 weeks in Orlando especially as you have small children in your party. That way you will not be rushing around and will have time to visit all the parks.

When our children were small we would visit the parks one day and then spend time in the villa or at a water park the next day.

Hi there, and a very big welcome to the forum - you have certainly come to the right place for help and advice to arrange your Florida trip.

A 2 centre holiday is a great idea, I would definately go for 2 weeks in Orlando followed be a week at the coast, you can get the best of both worlds then, and see 2 sides of the many things Florida has to offer - it will be great for the kids to have some 'beach time' too.

For accomodation in both areas you will truly be sploilt for choice - why not put a request on any of the 3 sites - it's never too early to start looking and planning!!
