    Dollar Vs Alamo car hire

Using the Car Hire link above why are Dollar cheaper than Alamo for hiring a 4 door car? The difference is £66 sterling over 21 days. Am I missing out on something?

Only if you book through Alamo[msnwink] Seriously I think that John and Roger get a better rate due to the amount of business they do with Dollar - however some people prefer Alamo so they offer both to give a choice. We've always been Dollar fans so the price is a bonus[msnsmile2]

    Dollar for us too.
We've used them twice now and have had no problems, and haven't been able to find anywhere that can beat them on price either.

Alamo for us as we have had great service and good cars plus their direct road system is good.
We have had cars from every company you can imagine Dollar included, its all down to personal choice.

We use Dollar, but did use Alamo once. We found that they just directed us to the car type of which we ordered and we just had to take any one. All the keys were in the cars.It took us about 20 minutes as the boys could not decide which colour to choose. We must have sat in 6 cars.

We have never used Dollar so cannot comment on them. Always been happy with the cars from Alamo and you do get to choose the car you want when you arrive at the airport. We always look for the one with the least mileage. However, the staff try every trick in the book to get you to upgrade but then I suppose all car hire companies do that!

We have used both, and they are both very good. However we now use Dollar all the time due to the price, and the Dollar Express service.

At the end of the day its a tin box on 4 wheels and as long as it gets us around in comfort and safety thats all I want from a hire car.

Dollar for us mainly because of the price. We have used Alamo in the past but this was when you had to get a bus to the pick up area, I'm sure you can now collect the car at the airport.

The Alamo Diect Road I mentioned earlier I would imagine is the same as the Dollar Express i.e. you go to The top of the queue or a separate queue, that doesn't half get you some glares[}]
