We like the beaches on Manasota Key and Boca Grande best Gerrarde

For restaurants South Beach (on Boca Grande) and Johnny Leverocks in Cape Haze are our favourites [8D]

South Beach Bar and Johhny Leverocks for us aswell.

Some info on local beaches on this thread although as Ruth has 3 children I would take her advice.

For something different try Rum Bay Restaurant on Palm Island. It is only accessible by boat (15 Minutes) so you will need to book the table and restaurant. If you try to come back at sunset the boat is often accompanied by dolphins.

Can recommend the ribs and “Swamp Sauce.” Also serves great steaks and seafood. Beware the cocktails are lethal - a friend ordered a Bourbon with no ice and was given a tumbler full of neat Bourbon. You will find the telephone number and directions for Rum Bay and the restaurants in our Handbook when you arrive.

Its about 2 1/2-3 hrs from Orlando to Rotonda. Its well worth the trip if you've never been to Rotonda. If you are looking for a relaxing beautiful area in an area of beautiful homes close to the beaches and golf. Rotonda is it!
