Next year my husband is 50 and wants fly out Upper Class. We normally go Premium Economy (upstairs) we were also upgraded several years ago and won't fly anything else.

Silly question but do you get the same amenities pack in u/c? I was cleaning out the bathroom cupboard and found a couple of shoe horns that used to be provided years ago. It made me think about how much is no longer provided. The outward bags are a lot smaller and this year they have stopped including the note pads.

I can remember the days when afternoon tea was really that, sandwiches, scone and cream.

Best thing to do is go on the website for Virgin and it tells you exactly what you get in UC - from Heathrow you even get inflight massage!!!

Food brilliant -with "breakfast in bed" even!
amenity pack by Oswald Boateng -bespoke tailor -but had cufflinks [for ladies too?], a pen, some OB socks, a "mind games" booklet, earplugs and mask and lip salve breath freshener toothpaste and brush etc -okay I syppose - room for improvment really. Sleepsuit needs sorting out too.

If you live within the M25 you also get picked up and driven to the airport. Apparently the "chauffer" even checks you in lol As it's our 25th wedding anniversary we are definately going to go for it. I don't think we'll reach our 50th!

Wow a chauffer great going to airport but will he cope with all the luggage on our return (4 28kg bags and a set of golf clubs). We have to take out the back seats in our MPV to get them in, even worse if my sister comes with us, 2 extra bags and a seat needs to be left in Keep saying I'm not going to buy so much but I can't resist.

The very first time I flew to Miami was in 1980 and there were no package holidays then. We flew Sunshine? airways and thought the flight out was brilliant service, going back was even better as they upgraded us to first. Whilst we were there the company was taken over by Pan Am, we confirmed our flight 48 hours before and when we arrived at airport the lines were horrendous. By the time we got to the desk the chap was really looking frazzled, he asked if we wanted smoking or non smoking and we said we didn't mind as long as we could have a seat together. It wasn't until we were in the boarding lounge that I saw we had been given first class.

No packaged meals and armchair seats, they didn't fully recline but being half the size I am now I managed to sleep, mind you the alchohol they plied you with might also have helped. Absoluely brilliant still got the menu somewhere.

Be careful about getting excited about the chauffer, this is only available on full fare upper class tickets. If you have booked and upgraded via Virgin Holidays then this feature is not available.

If you booked direct with Virgin or at a travel agent and your fare is less than £3000.00 per ticket then chances are you are on a restricted ticket, so no chauffer!!!

Everything else is FAB though. Got my appointment for a haircut in the Clubhouse booked for my flight in a couple of weeks[msnwink]

Have booked our UC tickets for beginning of March. Have been searching the site for weeks now and the prices for two weeks before Easter are really high. Brought them forward and found that it was only £100 dearer to book UClowest than Miles + money.

Unable to book seat numbers now, does it matter where you sit?

Wow now I have an extra baggage allowance, hubby can have his own bag (bone of contention on last holiday) and I can have the other 4 (6th bag = golf clubs)

Don't know what I'm more excited about, the comfortable seats or the extra luggage[msnsmile2]

You should be able to book your seats now - unless they've been booked through an agent.

Row 6 is nice for a couple although some think they are too close together. Avoid row 11 and 12 - near to bar and galley especially for return and can be a bit noiser. Other than that there's really no difference. Personally I like to be in row 7, 8, or 9.

I booked through the flying club, will try next week to see if I can book seats.

I did read another user had bought premium economy also for March next year and had been given her seat allocation so was rather miffed that I couldn't do mine.

Will try again next week with your very useful information.

After the horrendous journey home this march in premium economy we have paid extra to get away from selfish people who make your journey unbearable.

Should I ask for a window seat or doesn't it matter?
