We got back last Wednesday and the traffic was horrendous, bumper to bumper along the 192.

My parents also arrived home last Wednesday and didn't encounter any traffic problems at all.

If you try the Orlando Sentinal newspaper website there is a live travel update for the I4 and 192 ( just looked can't actually find it now! was on there yesterday) also average price of petrol for the week etc.

We got back on Sunday and was amazed at how bad the traffic was.
We would go up the 27 and onto I-4 and was straight into a jam that lasted at least 20 minutes each time. On the rare occassion that it was free flowing - and we can only think of 3, maybe 4 times in 2 weeks that that happened, then it was genuinley only 30 minutes to any of the parks. But there are major roadworks on the I-4 and we just had to get in the habit of leaving earlier for our days out. We're not convinced that rush hour had anything to do with it as a lot of the time we were joining the I-4 at midday or just after.
A couple of times we also had to go the other way and onto the 192 but found that this was no better. The queues normally started here about 2 miles before the Ponderosa and carried on past it.
That said, even with all the traffic I don't remember it ever taking an hour to get to our destination.
Anyway - we're English. Queuing is what we do best [8D]

We've taken an hour to get from 27 to Disney...that was along 192...it was just the wrong time of day....most of the time if we use I-4 early we are at the gates of Disney in 12/15 mins...

Hi Kate, if you are hiring a villa speak to a villa owner, they often know short cuts to the parks or routes which may be slightly less direct but with little traffic.
Whatever the case no way is it going to take you an hour

Absolutely! We are off 192, but can get to Disney without actually traveling on 192, and get there in 10 min. I'm sure there are also shortcuts from other communities as well off of 27. We have never taken anywhere near an hour, regardless of time to get to or from the parks.

A toll road is being opened on April 4 which will speed up the drive to Disney from the 192, but I am told that there is another way down Sherberth Road, which is off the 192. I've never known the traffic to be as bad as mentioned and we have a villa on the 27.

We drove the full length of the 192 yesterday without any delays, not a road work insight[msnsmile2]. No way does it take an hour to do that route unless there was an accident and that is something that cannot be forseen and could happen in any city in any country.

    To be honest

We live less than 2 miles from Cardiff town centre, does it take 45 mins to get to work in rush hours. BOY yes.

We have now been out numerous times of the year, To quote a few. January, February. MAy. July, August. October. December. We our on the 127 about 1 mile down from the 192. and We are yes approx 12 mins from Disney, and we time this any numerous times of the day. Universal. no more than 20 mins even with traffic. When you get to know how the traffic moves, and what junction to takes etc, if is even quicker.

Ask the owners they will know the times to go and the routes to take, that what we are here for.

The parks themselves knwo they get busy and if they had problems in getting people to the gates on timethey would be losing money, and that what they dont want.

dont forget if you do have tailback it may be because of an accident of anything, just like the UK, with rubber neckers, this is worldwide, not just Orlando.

To be honest the longest drive we have experienced in the airport drive.

As Liz says, there are short cuts to Disney. We were there a couple of weeks ago and it took no more than 10 to 15 mins and that was from the 27.
