    Oz to Orlando.

We are emigrating to Perth next month. Obviously we are going to have a whole new country to explore but we still want to go back to Florida, maybe in a couple of years.

Has anyone got any experience of traveling from Oz to Orlando? How do the costs compare with UK prices?

    Just curious at this stage.

You could ask Twiglet she lives in OZ and is travelling to Orlando in 2008 so she has already done a lot of research, she lives in a suburb of Melbourne though not Perth[msnwink]

My daughters boyfriend emigrating to brisbane the day before New Years Eve last year. He is flying to Orlando to join us this Saturday - 8th of April. I think his flight was about £700 but he has had to fly to Sydney then Los Angeles before getting a connecting flight to Orlando. It is going to take him 25 hours. I think there is a shorter route but it was much more expensive. Bear in mind though his parents only bought his ticket a couple of months ago. Maybe if it was bought 11 months before the required time it might be cheaper.

My auntie lives in Perth, she met us is Orlando last May whilst doing a world trip. The flights are more expensive, she went to New Zeland, Hawaii and Canada before flying down to Florida.

We had guests from Australia over the New Year, and they flew in via Los Angeles. But, I don't know how much they paid...

    Hi Semper!

    How exciting, Perth is beautiful!
I am in Melbourne, I moved out from London 11 years ago this year!

I am organising a holiday to Orlando, we are having a family reunion there in 2008!
So I have been checking out various flight options. You can fly return there, via Sydney, LA, Chicago, to Orlando, but to be honest its only a bit more to do a round the world ticket, and you could throw in a visit back home at the same time! Obviously there's a bit more flying time involved, jet lag will probably be shocking too, but you will be dying to visit home when you are flying all that way anyway. Its only another few hours, on an already long journey!

If you dm your email address, I can let you know some great websites in OZ, for fares, etc, and answer any questions you might have about life down under.

Good luck with all the packing. I am sure you have tea chests everywhere at the moment!

    Hi Semper,

We have family in Perth who are thinking about meeting up with us in Florida in the next year ot two. Initial enquiries suggest the best route is via Hawaii & Los Angeles and costs seem to be around £700.

Good luck with your move, hope you enjoy exploring Oz.

When we went to Los Angeles a few years back we ended up going on Air New Zealand. The flight stopped then carried on that way. I think from Aus it is the same route back. Have not heard of any direct to Orlando.

The quickest way is via the East Coast of Oz. Qantas fly from Sydney to LA, then you need to connect to United and change once on the way down to Orlando. Alternatively Air NZ fly out there, but its always via Auckland. Much nicer aircraft/staff than United, but the additional hour or so in NZ is an extra bit, on top of an already incredibly LONG journey!

Or you can get a round the world ticket for a little bit more, and throw a trip into England on the way around, stopping in Asia as well, so lots of nice breaks! Singapore Airlines usually have a great stop over deal,(Singapore Splendour) A$1 for the first night, and around $45 a double after that (40p and 18 pounds) and throw in free transfers, half price meals, free trip to the Zoo, free nighttime Safari, free travel around Singapore, and a free trip to Sentosa Island. Its a sensational deal, and we do it every time. Can't be beaten for value!
