When I go to the water parks as usual we have camera, video camera, money etc. What do I do to prevent them getting wet? I always seem to be the one minding the bags. Thank God I smoke!

It is worth getting a locker for all your valuables. That way you can relax & enjoy the day![]()

we get over this by buying a couple of disposable waterproof cameras to use on the days we go to the water park or beach and take limited amounts of money which we put in a locker. That way nobody is left bagminding and we have got some great shots using the disposable cameras, the trade off in the quality of the photos is worth it to make sure everyone is included.
You can get lockers in 2 sizes. We generally manage to get our stuff into a small one (the large lockers seem to have been built with the idea of accommodating small children !)
The single use waterproof cameras aren't too bad....we've had some good pictures on the lazy river and on some of the slides.....and they fit into your pocket (if you wear shorts).

We discovered waterproof cameras last time we went(unfortunately after our friend tok his digital camera on a rapid ride!) and found the quality of the pictures was not bad at all. Back at the villa we went under the water, kids jumped in and we snapped them - kids thought they were great fun.
When we went last time we bought the boys a disposable waterproof camers each and let them snap away. Very interesting pictures when we got back !!

Waterproof disposables are also great at the beach, where the sand always seems to get in every crevice!
I do find that the cameras work really well in sunny/bright conditions, but can be a bit dull if it's overcast, but it's better than risking your expensive items.
Places like Boots the Chemist offer lots of travel accessories, especially this time of year. I bought a money holder that you wear around your neck, just like the ones you buy for kids. It's tube shaped and you put in a bit of money, locker keys etc. That way you don't keep having to trapse your way back to the locker every time you want a drink!
So that's what the big lockers are for - but instead of putting kids in there, can I put the old man in there instead!!!![]()
Hi Phil,
Zip-tie freezer bags can be the photographers best friend on water rides. Photo shops like Jessops also sell more specialised pieces of kit. Try searching for 'rainguard' on www.jessops.com if you want to shoot video on the wet rides.
This is probably going to spark controversy ... but ... from my personal experience I've found modern digi's can stand a few splashes (and being dropped a couple of times ... ooops) but not a good dunking. A shirt pocket keeps the worst of the water off if you want to try a few shots. Mine's survived just being held (with wrist strap) too.
If you want to get a bit closer to the water ride action and shoot the worst bits you might also try taping up the camera's battry/CF cover and also it's microphone if it has one.
Love the idea of underwater shots of the kids jumping in the pool using a waterproof disposable. I'm so going to try that next time I'm out.
you could buy an underwater camera so if it gets wet then it doesn't matter becaus obviously its waterproof.or you could buy a poncho and put i over the bags.[msnwink]
