    Did the clocks change?

    Hi everyone

Does anyone know if the clocks went forward an hour in Florida last weekend like ours did? I have a friend going out there on Thursday and she asked me if they will 5 or 6 hours behind. I know that their clocks do change but I wasn't sure if it was the same weekend as us or not!

Thanks for your help in advance.

This year they change next Sunday in US. Sometimes they coincide, but for one week there will be 6 hour time difference.

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday of March (March 11 2007) and end the first Sunday of November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to revert the Daylight Saving Time back to the 2005 time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

Tezz this might partly answer your question

In the UK they have just passed the first part to try and leave the clocks unchanged in October this year. If it passes the second reading then in Oct they will stay the same and next year will move forward an hour again (and again leave it in Oct)and once they have done their evaluations will either leave it as it is or change accordingly.

The newspaper did say by moving 2 hours forward we would be in line with the rest of Europe but France is only one hour ahead so dont know if it meant central Europe.

I suppose Europe is BST plus 1 in the summer. Wouldn't mind staying on BST all year, but wouldn't like to fit in with Europe as we will be in the dark in the winter mornings. I understood the reason why we have never matched Europe is that the Scots opposed it because of the dark mornings

I think the logical reasoning behind the Scots wanting to keep the system has gone now, traditionally, I understand it was because of the Scottish farmers getting up so early in the morning to see to the cattle, now however with the fact that most farms are automated for milking and obviously electric lights, there is no longer the same kind of necessity.
