Last time we went to Florida we flew into Miami and stayed a few nights before driving to Orlando. We drove up the east coast along the coast road for a few hours. It was well worth doing. fantastic scenery and houses. We stopped at a beach or 2 on the way as well. Highly recommended.

    Hi

Our villa is just off the 27 so we decided to travel down to Miami via the 27. Had no problems with traffic until we actually got into Miami itself. I guess the whole journey took about 4 1/2 hours. I have to say it is a very boring drive and I'm sure there was one stretch of road just south of Lake Oceechobee that was about 35 miles long that did not have any bends at all!

We just did Cape Coral on the west from Orlando I4 and I75, its about the same distance as Miami about 220 miles and did it in 4 hours with one stop, the only thing is and I have not seen it mentioned on here is the tolls, did not know about them till 2 days before we was flying so asked a friend and took some change with me (don't think they like breaking $100 notes) did 3 on the way down, 2 was a 75c and one was $1.... I think the driving in the US is a lot better then over here, people don't seem to be rushing around like we do.. On the way back I set my Sat Nav and it warns of tolls and asks if to avoid or not, I hit the wrong button and it got me back to the airport missing all the tolls.. wife says I did it on purpose tight sod so you can miss them but it would cost more in fuel to get round than pay them I think.

    Happy driving [8D]

I think it is the I95 from Miami up to SR 60 then across. Not a bad drive done it a couple of times. We are on 27 and 60 joins at lake Wales. have also done H27 to Miami and it is a bit boring.

Driving from Orlando to miami will take you between 8 and 4 hours depending on the route and time of traffic. If you are in the disney area take hwy 27 south to Miami best time to travel this rout is between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM. this rout is good if you are going to NW Miami/Hialeah The alternative route is turn pike to I-95 then Miami or straight turn pike.
