    Posting a Topic Twice

New members may not realise that there are in some instances a couple of pages to a topic-for example I started a thread on Pointe Orlando-had a look yesterday and saw a new thread of it in Shopping.

Feeling sure I had started it off -had a look and there it was on the second page.

Now this wouldn't be a problem if these pages were just for our own interest bu if we are trying to compile a reference for guests then it is going to be confusing.
Is there any way the messages can be shuffled together-or ask if people can check first.

I know you don't want to be too pedantic over this but obviously if everything related is in one place then it makes the site more user friendly for guests -just my two pennorth!

How about a "go to first unread post" button, then you know you haven't missed any posts, or am I getting too greedy?

    Hi Steph

I'll have a look at lunchtime and see what can be done.

Is this feature available on that other owners forum? If so can you point me in the right direction so I can get a feel for how it works?

    Hi John
I usually do a "search for new post" which is on the right at the top of the page and then above the posts on the left hand side there is a "go to first unread post".
don't let your lunch get cold.

    Sorry John
Just looked at the other site and realised after you've searched for new posts, you have to select a thread before the "go to first unread post" appears.

What I have done - which has been helpful - is go to Search beside Members options at top right and type in the word or place you are looking for, choose how you want to search and it finds the word and shows you where it is. It can come up with a few different topics and you can go in.

I saw that earlier. What I'm trying to figure out at the moment is how does it know you have read a message when there can be umpteen messages on one page in a thread.

Presumably it knows, if a thread is more than 1 page long, which was the last page you viewed and then jst takes you to the next page in turn? If so, could it not miss out messages at the foot of the previous page that were added since you last viewed the thread?

On TF it doesn't just take you to the next page, just to the first post you haven't read, so if the last post is mid way down first page it still tells you. . Could it be the messages are "flagged" like e-mails sometimes are to tell you when they've been read and the cookies store it on your browser? I'm just guessing how it could be worked.
