    Beware of the Sales Tax

Many UK visitors to Florida are confused when they are charged more for their shopping than they expected, ie buy something for $10, give the cashier $20, and you'll get $9.40 back not $10.

There is a 6% sales tax levied on most goods, but ticket prices are generally always excluding tax, so $10 actually means $10.60

Sometimes -but not always-they wave it at the markets!

    It's such a nuisance!

They often have "Tax Free Weeks" - around end of July definitely, seems as though they run these before school terms etc, but not completely sure. This can really make a difference to the prices.
