Had just under 2 days to get over to Florida to close on my villa.
The Bank would not release my money and as much as I tried in getting noterised letters, sending e-mails and telephoning I got no replies and time was running out FAST ! so....off I went !
Roger got my hire car organised in under an hour ! Thanks Roger.
The bank really messed me around so I had a few words like...."incompetant, disgusted, unprofessional" with the manager and withdrew ALL my money and closed all the accounts.
My Realtor was wonderful in getting me a place to stay and being "on call" to help out when necessary.
Within an hour of closing I was given the keys to my villa and that is where I stayed for the rest of my stay.
Now having made that long trip and in haste ! I was not going to rush back to Wales ! ( those who have been to Florida and "fallen in love" with the place know what I mean! )
After a year of planning and reading about places and things I finally got to do and see things.
[u]Shopping</u>
I was able to be around for the "Grand Opening" of a new Wal-Mart near Kings Ridge on Highway 27. Went in when it was light....came out when it was dark
Found Kohls and had some fantastic bargins there AND got my very first "Seniors" discount.....without having to ask[msnscared] didn't know whether to feel flattered or what.....well the "events of the previous 72 hours must have aged me [laugh][laugh]
Marshalls, Tatget....oops Target ! there was no stopping me.....with no hubby around I was free....to get bits and bobs to grace my newly acquired villa.
[u]Eating Out</u>
Oh, the pleasures of Perkins.....after a mamouth shop (not buying just looking ) I ordered a lovely steak dinner. Having had 2 bites of my steak I had to answer the call of nature and told the waitress that I was not leaving the building...." I'll be back" ! When I did get back my table was lovely and clean and EMPTY ! the table clearer had put my dinner in the bin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They gave me another dinner free drinks and charged me half price and having gone in at 6 pm finally left for home at 8:15pm.
[u]Boom, Bang, crunch</u>
Having met up with Lynn, Dawn, and Jackie on Terre Verde I then went home....stopped at a red traffic light on the 192 and got hit from the back. My car seat mountings broke and I was propelled sidewards. Thankfully I was not seriously hurt apart from severe bruising, shock and what felt like re- arranged internal organs !
The other driver did not have any form of identification or driving license on him and the Police gave him a really bad time because of it

He had a fine and has to appear in court.
The accident happened at 5pm and I eventually got back to the villa at 01:00am having waited for the police, been taken in a breakdown tow truck back to Orlando Airport to fill in paperwork and get a replacement hire car. The first time I was in Florida on my own I had to find my way home in the dark after midnight in the pouring rain.....aaawww, [msncry]
I had a "quiet" couple of days after this [angel]
The time away gave me a chance to get accustomed to the REALITY of Villa ownership
I have come home with a LONG list of what I need to do on my next visit..........and another list of "things to do" for my husband ![msnwink]
Some how I get the feeling my husband has mixed feelings about "letting me loose in Florida on my own" .......I wonder why ?

let me know - I'm here on my own at the minute for another week yet and no doubt will return during April and June to do the same.
