More of our trip in January
8th Jan
After our road trip to Tampa and Busch gardens, we're taking it easy today, and off for a lazy day in Winter Park.
A beautiful warm day and a short drive via Sizzler for breakfast, and we are strolling the streets of Winter Park.
Window shopping, some real shopping, and a coffee in the Park - what a way to spend a Sunday!
People watching and a bit of lunch takes us to home time - so its back to villa for a nice swim and a spa.
Dinner tonight at Thai Thani on 192 - truely one the best Thai's I have tasted (from someone who has been to Thailand 5 times !!). Even TJ liked it, tucking into green curry and noodles !
9th Jan
Seaworld today. An early start gets us there for 1030 (after breakfast at the Village Inn). Checked out Pets Ahoy with some dog petting after, the water/fountain show, the sea lion show, then around to the Kids area. Missed Shamu this time (seen a couple of times before). Touched the dolphins, then watched as the divers tried to find a bracelet someone had dropped into the water.
Home via an Indian Restaurant (think it was the flavours of india?)
Not bad, TJ enjoyed the Samosas, a nice curry for me.
10th Jan
Driving over to Cocoa Beach today, checked out Cocoa Village for an ice cream. Then onto the beach for a picnic and soaking up the warm sun !! Not many people around, but the weather was just right and a few people were picnicing as well.
Went to Cedars Lebanese for dinner, on Sand Lake Road. Personally my favourite of the holiday. If you like Turkish of lebanese food - check it out. We sure will on our next trip.
11th Jan
Shopping today at the Millenia Mall, but only after a heated exchange with the pool guy for the villa. Arrived back last night to find the hose running into pool after they had visited to check the pool.
So, the still running cold water had not only flooded the whole pool deck but made the pool so cold we could not use for a couple of days.
I don't even think they were that bothered - totally apathetic about it all.
Anyway - Millenia Mall today, after brunch at McDees (our one and only for the holiday).
Dinner at the Cheesecake factory. Ordered the Thai salad, and positively laughed out loud at the size of the portion. I'm sure we could have fed the whole restaurant with my meal.
Then a couple of slabs of cheescake to go.
12th Jan
drove over to Sanford today for a picnic by the lake. Checked out the (small) town, and got some ice cream, with a free one for TJ from the old lady running the shop. Sometimes a cute kid can work in your favor.
Interesting little place, worth an hour of time sometime.
13th Jan
Our last day today. Our Virgin flight leaves at 1930 tonight. So what do you do on your last day ? Shopping !!
So over to Florida Mall for some last minute shopping, picked up some bargains including three pairs of Diesel trainers for TJ, one in each size, for £12 each....
Lunch at Ruby Tuesday, and sob, the drive to the airport for the flight.
Uneventful flight, on time, and this time we were on the top deck PE. A lot quieter than on the way over.
Connected to Edinburgh and home to the cold again.
So my highlights
Food : Cedars Lebansese
Shopping : International Mall Tampa
Park : Animal Kingdom
Day out : Mt Dora
Hoped you enjoyed the report, it certainly was our best holiday to Florida.
We're already booked to go back for three weeks in October using the new Globespan flights from Glasgow.
