I don't know if this is an appropriate question, but twice I made general enquiries about a villa (looking to rent from the 10th April 2006 for 10 nights) but received absolutely no replies.[msnsad]

As a fairly regular lurker here I was quite surprised that there were no responses. However I had assumed that all of the owners had no availability - and if that is the case then great, that's what you aim for, and you seem a bunch of thoroughly nice people[msnsmile2]

I then tried a couple of other sites and was deluged with responses and availability!! Now that might indicate a lot of things, but in the end I have rented a beautiful villa direct from an owner.

However I'm left wondering if my request actually got through to the owners on this site as all the other sites appeared to have a fair bit of availability?

I would try it again and also check you spam file if you have one, but Easter is THE busiest time of year for Florida, villas get booked up to 2 years in advance so it could just be that they are all booked[msnscared]

Make sure you are entering a valid email address. You'd be surprised how many times we get enquiries and can't reply because the email address isn't valid.
Although a lot of owners will already be booked for April 2006 I'd be very surprised if there was nobody on all 3 sites who could accommodate you.

Like Angela I suspect there must have been some problem with the e-mail address. AOL and NTL have been particularly bad of late for bouncing them or as suggested they may be being deleted before they get to you as spam.

We find it very frustrating especially if there are guests dates which fit particularly well with our booking schedule only to have it returned as undeliverable.

It's a bit late now but if this should happen in the future or for anybody else in the same position, if you receive no responses then it may be best to contact the site administrator to ask them to send you a test email to make sure it is ok.

As Angela has just stated, it could have been your e-mail address!
I've had a few in the past also where it has been returned to me undelivered.

I also know for a fact that some owners on this site still have availability for Easter 2006 so am very surprised no-one replied to your enquiry.

As Liesa states, try your enquiry again through all three sites

What a shame, and how frustrating for you!

As others have suggested, I suspect the problem was your e-mail address. If e-mails got through to you from another site, then I doubt that it would be a problem with your e-mail provider, but you could have easily mistyped your e-mail address when completing the form for OV, I do it all the time - just a comma instead of a dot, for example, can make all the difference.

I hope you have a great holiday and that you will give the OV sites a try on the next occasion, I'm sure you wouldn't be disappointed

Maybe as Angela said ,the email address was wrong it happens all the time it;s frustrating for everyone.

What a shame you didn't get any responses from this site but never mind I am sure you won't be disappointed with your choice. Have a lovely time in Florida. We are out there for Easter as well. It is a brilliant time to go. Don't forget to try this site again if you are planning on a return trip.
