Married when I was 17,many people ask why did you get mattied so young
We wanted to be together, way back then you didn't live together.
if we had, I would have been classed as a slut living in sin.

Barbara, we were the same ages when we met, 15 and 18. A strict but caring Mum and Dad made us wait until I was 18 to get engaged and until I had almost finished my training to get married at 21. I could have got married against their wishes I know but I preferred to have their blessing. I often pull my Mum's leg about making us wait....she doesn't remember, she is 84 and her memory is not all it was. My Dad died 18 years ago, but I know he would have been proud that we made it this far[msnsmile]
Love is coming home to bacon rolls on a cold Saturday morning when you have been working the nightshift![:I]

In this day and age its great to hear of so many long term marriages, and that the couples are still so glad to be together.[msnsmile2]
Sarah
Our first mortgage was £16.10 shillings
Liz my mum and dad wanted us to wait ,but I had the perfect excuse
They had married after only 6 weeks of knowing each other.my mum was 17 my dad 19. My dad was a regular in the army, was wartime he was being posted to Austria didnt' know when he would be back
They were together for nearly 50 years before my dad died so it worked for them.
So they gave their blessing,it worked for us too

i have been married for 14 years now and like Paula i married in my early 20's
we had a house for almost a year before we got married(it was being built)and neither myself or my huband wanted to live in it until we got married
we spent many a night after work driving up to visit our "plot" and it was lovely to see our little house being built as we sat in the car and planned our wedding[msnsmile]

After reading all these stories I feel like an old lady, Brian and I did not get married until I was 30 and that is thirty years ago this year so I have my 60th birthday and 30th wedding anniversay this year, I keep asking what are we going to do for them but get no answer so will just have to wait and see. I agree those couples who say they never argue it must mean their life is very dull, we have very lively discussions and often end up totally disagreeing but at the same time respecting each others point of view. As for waiting for him to come home at the end of the day we worked together and are now both retired so have nearly spent the whole of the 30 years together - friends often say we must be mad - and I do sometimes agree.
Jill
No, not mad. Just very lucky. I'm sure they're secretly jealous.![]()
