Thank you everyone for your advice. Unfortunatley I was getting scared, so I made reservations at a hotel. I was noticing how quickly things were renting out...good for the Villa owners...sad for me and my confused self. Oh well, maybe I'll have better luck next time. No way to get out of it now without having to pay to cancel. Thanks again for your help! I'll let you all know how the hotel stay goes.

It's a shame you picked an hotle Sierra, there are some beautiful villas on this site and I'm sure someone would of been able to accommodate you, have a great time when you go and If you get chance have a look at some of the communties over there then next time when you plan a longer stay you will get a feel for renting a villa.

OMG! What a mess! Some guy just called from the place we were suppose to be staying, he said he needed to talk to my DH, because the place wasn't verified yet. WHAT? They sure took our credit card number fast enough. I told the guy my DH was away and wouldn't be back for an hour, he gave me a major attitude. Now my DH is in the cancellation process, he's upset about this guys very unprofessional attitude with me. It was bad. He told the lady that he doesn't want to get his family all the way to Florida thinking he has a place for us to stay...and then there isn't. I'm so lost...back to the drawing board. Thank you all for your help, you all have been nothing but kind to me and my "newbie" self! LOL!

Sierra, I thought you said you had booked a hotel. Which hotel did you book, all hotels have to be verified?

We booked one in Orlando. When my DH called them, the lady didn't know why it hadn't been verified. She said all the info was there, credit card number, our number and address...everything. So, my DH isn't at all impressed with this company. So, we will be looking elsewhere Wish us luck! Thanks!

It does sometimes happen that credit cards don't get verified, even though there may be nothing wrong, somttimes the credit card company decides it is "protecting you from fraud" if the spend is outside of your usual spending pattern etc.

It is really frustrating when this happens as most often it is is genuine but I guess we'd all be gald if it prevents one fraudulent transaction on our bill if somebody has got hold of our details.

There are many owners who will take a 4 day booking (unless it is over a holiday period, when some have minimum lengths of stay and it is a good way for you to get a chance to try somewhere new.

Many can process credit cards (there may be a charge levied as the credit card companies charge).

Wherever you decide to stay I hope you have a wonderful trip and, has been suggested, if you do stay in an hotel it's nice to drive round some of the communities and see the sort of homes that are available.

It is always best to notify Credit card company that you wil be making an unusual spend on your credit card, also another very good tip is to notify credit card / or bank companies that you will be using your credit card while in USA or which evercountry you are visiting. Some times you will go to use your cards and they will be declined while the store or shop gets your payment sanctioned. We always phone the C/C company and bank before we go away and give them the dates when we will be in Florida and the date when no physical transaction should be on our cards.

You still have a chance to redeem the situation and book a home that has availability for April.
It will be well worth it.

Once you have stayed in a privately owned vacation rental home you will never want to stay in a hotel again. Think of having a whole house rather than a room, with all the amenities of home

Just a little update. We are in the process of trying to reserve a villa. We are on the final step with the people. Keep your fingers crossed!
