The Rainforest Cafe is unusual - great displays and a fun place to eat - you may need to book though. There is one at Animal Kingdom, and Pleasure Island

    Hi Krysia,
Have you visited the dining section of the Florida guides in the links for villas and homes?
There are some great ideas in there. I have been to Orlando many times but I always seem to find something new in there.
I am going to try the Sugar Mill at De Leon next time I go.
I like O'Hanas at the Poly, and Bahama Breeze

Visit the Disney Hotels, you can pop in for a coffee or a meal all are themed and it is a great way of spending an afternoon or evening.
Downtown Orlando on a Friday & Saturday evening for "cruise" night is always great entertainment, see the enthusiasts display their wonderful bikes and their great cars, behind the Big Wheel Downtown Orlando starts around 6.00ish. all free, plenty of parking.

I posted a thread like this a while ago and it had lots of things to do which were not the norm, must see if I can find it as there were some great ideas. We are not park people and having visited 20 times or so in the last 5 years always on the lookout for new things to do. We try to visit at least 2 new restuarants each trip. There are lots of articles on the site about things to do, why not peruse them?

Try Lavender and Lace Tea Rooms and curiosity shops at Lake Alfred. The food is fabulous and lots of interesting things to buy. Gardens are lovely and the walk at the end of the road round the lake is great lots of chance of seeing a Gator!

Why not check out the Florida Guide on the Orlando Villas home page?
    Loads of great suggestions there!

We found a very unusual and interesting place last holiday when we took a week away from our villa and travelled down the west coast. We had gone to the Everglades for an airboat ride and afterwards were looking for somewhere less touristy for a drink and lunch. We drove to CHOKOLOSKEE ISLAND and found by by chance what we thought was a general store. As it was at the end or the road and overlooked water we thought we would go and get some drinks and snacks and sit for a while.

We went upstairs and found the SMALLWOOD STORE, which turned out to be a one-story board and batten trading post on pilings. The original owner, Ted Smallwood had bought the entire island in 1896 and this building had once been a trading post, grocery, post office, ironmongers, haberdashers chemist and anything and everything else people would have needed.

When his daughter had finished running the store she still lived there amongst all the stock still left. It was a most fascinating and interesting place to see what life was like for people through the last century. The guide was a local man who had known the family and was exceedingly informative and brought the history to life. For anyone in this area especially with children I think this is one museum that is well worth a visit.
