    Travel Insurance

I am always a bit unsure as to when to book travel insurance. Should you do it the minute you book your villa and flights - or wait until later?

The sooner the better really. If something happens in between when you book and when you take out your insurance you could stand to lose some money.

As far as I am aware there is no benefits in leaving it.

It depends on level of insurance but I always get insurance as soon as I book the first part of my trip, normaly the flight. If the flight is cancelled or moved to an unsuitable time can always claim the money back via insurance.

We have an annual insurance and renew it as soon as it becomes due.

We too have an annual policy as it works out cheaper that way for us. I would also recommend that you get your insurance as soon as you book anything to do with your holiday as you are then covered if anything should go wrong. It is unlikely that it will, but being insured from the beginning gives you peace of mind.

    Hi Lis1
I booked our travel insurance online with Tesco, I found them to be a good price.

We have an annual policy but I don't renew automatically, it depends on what our plans are. For instance this year our policy runs out in April so will cover our trip in March but we are not planning to go till Sept so I wont renew it until we have paid for our flights which may not be till July so we dont effectively waste 3 months cover.

It is advisable to get your travel insurance as soon as you book your flights etc. You do not have to take out travel insurance with same company who you book flights with, best to shop around.
