We getv ours turned on the day they arrive, I think the management company go round in the morning quite early to give it time to heat up.

No ! Val, it is cheaper than heating up the whole pool each time, we just turn it down a little if there is nobody in for a week or two. Our winter bills have not been that different to the summer ones when the air con is on more ! We did have one high bill this year but that was due to it being for 5 weeks instead of 4 and being occupied for 4 of the 5 and having the heating on in the house on odd evenings as it was cold.

We always have it turned on 24 hours before the guest arrives, and not turned off until the pool is cleaned after they leave. I know some people query the price of pool heat, but you do get more days than you pay for, due to prewarm up, and if you imagine it as a big open air emersion heater, you can imagine the energy used!! We have the kiddy pool [about 5ft across] a waterfall, and a 30'x15' pool 6'deep at one end - thats a lot of water to keep warm - however if a blanket is provided - DO use it overnight, or when out for the day - you reap the benefits, and so does the environment!!

On the question of pool heat we have booked a villa with a south facing pool this year.
Does this automaticaly mean that as we go in september when there should be plenty of sun the pool will be in the sun for longer and because of this the average temp higher. ?

Hope this is not too daft a question.

I would have thought you would be fine withour pool heat in September but if you are a chilly billy like Lee you may feel you need a little boost to the heat. Pool heat all comes down to personal preference.
