    Holiday insurance for oldies??

Can anyone recommend any insurance companies for the over 70's???
My mum in law is coming with us to Florida and has many health problems -blood pressure/thyroid/glaucoma and prob more!
Obviously it will cost her more, but has anyone had any reasonable quotes etc from any companies that i could get her to try???

    Thanx

Susan, my parents just insured themselves through Saga. I think it was about £130 for annual insurance. They are both in their 70's and Dad has a heart condition.

You may be more successful if you were to discuss your requirements with a Broker who handles various companied.
They will source the cover you require.

If you see my previous thread re Insurance for someone with Epilepsy - we are probably have simular problems. So far American Express are coming up with the best deal.

    Good Luck

    Karen,
I have an older friend in his mid 60's. He had a bypass about 10 years ago and Saga wanted over £300 for a 3 week holiday in Florida.

There is a long thread on another website about older people with medical problems wanting travel insurance and nobody has got anything approaching your parents price - that is for America, not Europe.

Are you sure the price is correct(you said you thought £130) and does it include or exclude the pre-existing condition?(i.e heart condition)

Try having a look on moneysavingexpert.com. It's quite a good site with lots of useful information.

Hi roxyfizz. Hope your mother in law finds the right insurance. Do take care to ensure that she is fully covered and that there are no exclusions for existing medical conditions. It is well worth the extra cost to be covered fully.

Medical treatment is expensive in the US so it is always wise to declare all conditions, so that you know you will be covered should the need arise. I am sure you are aware that with any insurance policy, if you do not declare everything they could wriggle out of their obligations.

Anyway, I am sure your m-i-l will have a great time in Florida, and will feel fit and well in the glorious sunshine! Hopefully, the only thing that might feel a little 'poorly' will be her credit card, after all that shopping!
