is it possible to get taxi's in orlando? i am stayingin a villa so wont be elegible for the free transport from hotels, as my partner is the only one who drives this means he cant have a few beers and then drive us home i was wondering if you can hire taxi's and if the rates where reasonable?

You can hire taxis, no problem. I will see if I can find some names (Checkers Taxis comes to mind). I believe they are quite reasonable.

Try the checker cab company, this is their telephone number 407-699-9999 they are very reasonable and based in central Orlando and Kissimmee. They don't have a website or ay least not that I know of but you will be able to get them on that number.

try mears transportation. They have a web site too whare you can enter your deatination details from your location and get an idea of how much the journey should cost.

We had this problem last year as we celebrate our wedding anniversary and two family birthdays while in Florida we found it very easy to get taxis and they were most competitive , we were out in Davenport and we travelled to the Peabody on International Drive , my advise would be to check it out on the internet and see who gives you the best deal .A lot of the time we ate at the villa because it meant that my husband the sole driver could have his few glasses of wine like the rest of us ,oh yes Ive just remembered my 20 year old daughter was unable to have wine with her meal in a restraunt so she was more than happy to dine at home . This year my husband is off the hook because we have two drivers .
