    Seasons 52

Well this vacation I have tried to find a few new places to eat and slightly off the tourist track.

We took a trip up to Dr Phillips (a distace from us as our villas are up the US-27) and we have found several to try. This time we were heading for Seasons 52 on the left ath the back of a shopping plaza and almost opposite Ruth Chris Steakhouse.

Friday night was a real hit with both the wife and I - we had had this place recomended by a waitress at Smokey Bones on the US-50 as a more upmarket place she liked on her days off. Well we entered about 8:30 and were given the obligitory flashing timer, and went to the bar where we were entertained not only by some excellent bar tenders who could certainly "mix a cocktail" but also by a pianist situated behind the bar. We had a couple of drinks and then some 'flat bread' for our starters, served at the bar.

We moved to our table and enjoyed a superb feast of very fresh fare. The menu is not extensive but has ample choice to suit allcomers and the restaurant was packed all night with locals. I will certainly return on a future visit. It was slightly more expensive than the normal chains but by no means beyond the pocket of the normal tourist. Most clients were 'dressed up' as opposed to the casual slyle of the restaurants on the 192 and International Drive but certainly not suits etc however this made a change and we had also made the effort realising we were trying something different.

Certainly one for others to try and pass comment her on the forum.

Might have to add this to the list. I know up that way there are a few nice resturants and as you say it is a bit off the tourist trail! We too like to try at least one new restuarant each trip!

We made the mistake of going on a Friday evening, and there was a 90 minute wait for a table!!![:O] If you're planning on going, make a reservation first.. they do take bookings over the phone.

Also in Dr Philips area is Timpanos Chop house. Themed like an Italian New York restaurant. Classy, with a pianist playing lounge music. Delicious food, quite pricey, but nice for a special occasion.

My Daughter recommends Woodstones, or Stonewoods, at Dr. Phillips. Sorry can't remember which way round it is. We plan to try it in Feb, she says they do the best steak. I like to go to Toojays at Dr. P for lunch, they do things like Liver and Onions and they have lovely, lovely cakes.[msnsmile2][msnwink][msnscared]
