Absolutely fabulous Elaine, a girl after my own heart!
i've got a question for you Jacqueline which i'm sure you'll know the answer being a cocktail girl [msnwink]
i've been given a pressie of a bottle of Limoncello, my brother in law brought it back from italy and i need some ideas of what to do with it [stupid1]
it's god awful on it's own so any ideas of what to mix with it, cocktail recipes etc?
Mizzy, you need to drink it frozen, so keep it in the freezer, that should make it taste better[msnwink]

Check out what is considered by some to be the true Italian Authentic Limoncello Recipe
Ways to serve other than just drinking (drinking is my favorite way).
Over ice cubed or crushed
Mix with sparkling wine or mineral water and add a twist of lemon peel to serve as an aperitif
Toss with fresh berries or fruit
Over vanilla ice cream or frozen yogurt[party1][party1][party1]
Marie I don't mind it although it is a bit too lemony for me to drink on a regular basis.
I have had it with soda water but a bit wersh and lemondade but the nicest way to drink it if you don't like it straight up or chilled is in a Martini, use vodka as normal and instead of vermouth use the lemoncello to flavour the glass (you bin any excess just leaving a fresh lemony flavour) and decorate with a twist of lemon. You could also use it in a dozen more traditional cocktails as a splash just to "lemon" it up.
I am more of a cranberry or pomegranite martini girl myself.
I know people also bake with it say in a lemon cake, not for me though. I have also seen it drizzled over fruit.
Of the citrus fruits I just love Lime (I just got a great crop from the tree I planted in the garden in May). So plenty of Caipharinias at Christmas.[party2].

My best chistmas drink is a real irish coffee in a warmed stemmed glass[msnwink] Lovely on a very cold crisp winters afternoon[msnwink]
Make fresh coffee in the usual way. put a shot of irish whiskey in a coffee glass with a teaspoon of brown sugar pour in coffee and stir, Pour double cream over the back of a spoon to make the cream float. It must contain sugar for the cream to float[msntongue]
thanks everyone for the tips, it was in the fridge so i've just transfered it to the freezer and i will try a teensy bit later[msnwink]
Julie oooh sounds nice, i'll have one of those coffees but make mine with a shot of tia maria, i'm a TM girlie[party1]
