    Steve & Dawn's Family Holiday Pt1

Saturday arrived and we had booked a stretched limo to take us from Skegness to Gatwick. Us being, Myself, Dawn, her son Jason, his wife Dawn (got a bit confusing having two Dawn’s sometimes ) their daughters Paige 12 and Ollie 2. They live about 10 miles from us so we would pick them up on the way to Gatwick. The limo was coming from Grimsby about 40 Miles from us and was booked for 8:30am. 7:45am and the phone rings it’s the limo driver saying he was just entering Skegness and needed directions to our house!![msnscared] Mad rush all round as we are trying to get ready a bit earlier, out of the bedroom window I see this huge, long white thing go sailing past our house only to return about 10 mins later. We are just about ready, quick check to make sure we have everything and we are on our way. Now I am 6’ 3” and it was a bit of a struggle getting in the car and shuffling to the back of the car on my hands and knees.[msnembarrased] We had a good laugh anyway!! We arrive at Jay & Dawn’s and the limo had to reverse into their cul-de-sac, a few neighbours came out to wave them off whilst we were trying to get all the cases in the boot. After about 10 mins all cases were stowed but the pushchair had to ride with us. Finally on our way, disco music and rope lights on in the limo.

Arrived at Gatwick about 12:30pm, felt like a film star, we could see out of the tinted windows people were watching to see who was getting out….. how embarrassing …[msnembarrased] they were disappointed as it was only us…. With me having to shuffle along and almost fall out of the car. We were staying at the Gatwick Hilton for the night but had decided to use twilight check in first before we checked into the hotel. Everything went fine with check in bags on their way to Florida. We went and checked into the Hilton. We had a standard room and Jay & Dawn had a family room which was enormous!! They had a Double and 2 singles’ a dining table, fridge etc. We then went to the airport to get something to eat and drink. Had a very nice meal and some expensive drinks. 4 bottles of Bud at around £14.[msnscared][msneek] The thing is it wasn’t the regular Bud it was some European brew that had a bit of an after taste. Wasn’t keen on that. And so to bed.

8:45 and we walk through to the airport go through passport control into the duty free side and decide on having a bacon sandwich at Yates’ Five bacon sarnies £22.50 [msneek]I expected to see the pig on a plate for that price. (Note to myself ….must get out more) After the sandwiches and a drink we went round duty free and as it was getting near the time to start boarding we headed over to the Virgin satellite. They have disposed of the old shuttle to take you there you now have to walk quite a way to get there. Once there we head to the bar as Dawn is not the best of flyers. She is fine once we get of the ground she just doesn’t like take off and landing, oh, and turns as well!! Finally we board the aircraft, we have booked Premium Economy and Jay & Dawn were in Economy. Flight was uneventful and good only took 7hrs 40mins. We kept popping downstairs to see the others, we wondered how Ollie would cope with the flight but she was no trouble at all. We land at Orlando with the temperature at 86 and humid. We had booked our cars through this site (well worth it too) I had booked a Jeep and Jay had booked an intermediate car. When I went to the desk, bear in mind Dawn and I were staying for 7 weeks, we gave them the two vouchers we had and he said we would have to change the car after 28 days and use the other voucher then. Ok fair enough, a bit of a pain but hey ho, he then asked if we wanted to upgrade to a loverly Dodge Durango, only $5 a day. I thought about it for a few seconds and declined the generous offer. As I had never had a Jeep before I told him I will have the Jeep this time and maybe next time I would upgrade. Jay got a Dodge Stratus. We headed to the Dollar garage and I handed my slip over to the lady in the kiosk and she gave me some keys and the row number of our vehicle. Off we toddle to
