We go to our new villa for the first time in 18 days and I'm trying to wind down from today but I'm finding it a bit difficult. A mixture of excitement, worry and basic fear! The night before we leave will probably be a bit hectic. We'll go to the Chinese chippy for a takeaway then try and relax after trying to get 5 lads to bed at a reasonable time! I'll check all the luggage for the tenth time, check our passports and tickets and make sure I've got the correct date and time for the taxi to take us in the morning. Do you think if we start on the bottles of wine tonight till we leave we'll get in the holiday mood? Can't imagine any packing and cleaning will get done!! Good idea though, eh?

I have to pack the week before, and I pack hubby and sons clothes, then they both unpack them and mess them about and annoy me on the last minute - always have passports etc at the ready, just have to pack my laptop. Always go for the hairdo, and used to go for manicure and pedicure, but last time I was too busy, and so had it done in Florida at half the price, so may do that again - eyebrow waxing doesn't hurt half as much over there
Then I do the cleaning milarkey, change sheets, set video for anything we want, set heating, and timers and all that rubbish, make sure clean school uniform at the ready for return and Melatonin tablets are out ready to combat Jet lag on return - hubby fetches in Fish and chips or whatever, and we try to go to bed early - I never get there,as I have always forgotten to wipe oven cleaner off and stuff - so I get to bed early hours ,and zonk out, only to be awoken early by fidgety hubby asking if it is time to go yet - we always go to the airport early, check in and have breakfast before going into 1st class lounge - THEN I get excited - I sit in peace and quiet reading the paper[ trying not to get the book out of my bag that I have just bought and am dying to read], and relax, knowing I cannot do anymore but enjoy the florida sunshine and a few hours sitting still on the plane, being waited on

Run around like a headless chicken macking sure we are organised and then rush to the airport for the twighlight checkin. We then come back to the house and try to relax but normally I am up til all hours still running around doing something or other. [zzz]

Why do we all sping clean the house? I do it every time but I dont know why?

Not sure? We always do it but this time we arrive back on New years Eve and we are having a big family party so it will have to be clean and tidy as we will not feel like cleaning when we get home.
Dont know why we seem to have parties when we arrive home as the last time it was our daughter birthday the day we arrived home and within 6 hours of getting home we had 20+ kids for a party.

In case the burglars think you're untidy? In case whoever's the key holder has to come in and thinks what slobs you are? So you can run around like a headless chicken before you leave?

Who knows? Mum does it and it drives me up the wall! [msncry]

No, just so you can go away thinking everything is ready for the jetlag to hit on your return

I must admit, when I get back I love just getting back into my own bed with lovely clean sheets on!

Run around like mad things at work wondering why everyone else going on hols. dumps their oustanding stuff on others but we stupidly make sure we are up to date. Arrive home and calculate the absolute last minute we can pack - like to leave it until then so we don't spend days thinking 'Did I put that in the case?' and end up tipping the whole lot out to check!
