Weather and Pools

Could some-one let me know what sort of weather we can expect on our upcoming trip to Orlando.

We are there 29th July to 14th August.

Will there be many rainstorms and how humid is it?

Also we see most Villas have these screens around the pools. Are these fully enclosed and don't they make the pool area too hot!!

Hi Philb

Welcome to the forum. It will probably be hot during your stay (around 90+F) and it is usually quite humid. Wear cotton gear if you have it (T-shirts and shorts are ideal) and make sure it's loose and you drink plenty of fluids (not alcohol as this dehydrates you!) like water, etc. There's usually a rainstorm around late afternoon but it normally soon clears up. If there should be any lightening, make sure you're not in the pool at that time.

The screens are made of fine netting with tiny holes in it so that they let the air and the sunshine in and keep the bugs out. They don't have any effect on the heat around the pool area at all as any breeze still blows through the small holes.

We have a villa on Calabay Parc, it's a really lovely development. The villas have been built to an exceptionally high standard. The drive time to Disney is approx 10 - 15 minutes, there are numerous golf courses within a few minutes drive, Champions Gate (5 minutes drive)has an excellent supermarket as well as a great Chinese (that delivers!!) + other shops, there is a Walgreens about half a mile from the entrance of the community (pharmacy + mini supermarket) .... if there's anything else you'd like to know just ask!

Phil all the communities on here are lovely. They each offer something different, whether it be nearness to Disney or peace and tranquility with additional space further out in the country. It's a matter of what you like.

Trainers rather than sandals are a good idea for the parks, as if you get the 3o'clock showers you won't get so wet! Also, buy yourself the plastic ponchos from one of the supermarkets for a fraction of the cost they are at the theme parks. And you will need them! There are also little fans with water - you spray yourself with a fine spray of water as well as giving yourself some much needed cool air. Again they are much cheaper in the supermarkets - walmart, publix etc. than at the parks.

The weather is hot hot 90s but you make expect rainstorms in the early afternoon to cool off but afterwards the humidity comes right out again..You will find many nice communities on Orlandovillas to choose from.. will be a hard choice...

I see on some of the photographs that most pools are open at the back, ie you can see the pools of other properties. Is this the case for most villas, or is it not a problem?

We've never found it to be a problem. More often than not there is nobody around at the time you are there anyway because people go out such a lot. It's still a lot more private than a hotel pool.

i agree with steph the villa pool we were in was overlooked but we were almost the only family around in the pool, the villa we rented at hampton lakes also had a games room that we found particulary useful. the temperaure was hot and humid and beleive it or not we were glad for the rain in afternoon. do wear trainers to all excursions as i wore deck shoes for the first of our 4 weeks holiday and my fee and legs swelled up. also take water bottles/sprays with you as in the parks they have drinks for sale on carts which are loaded with ice, cart holders only to happy to let you fill with ice and then we filled them with water from the drink fountains. also wear lots of sun lotion or block
