Neopets **Parents Warning**

I have noticed on the childrens forum that there is a much added to post on neopets

but can i just pass on a warning to other parents about their children using this site

there is a story section where the children registered as neofriends can make a story up and it can be added to by other registered users

obviously this site has the ability to blank out very adult non appropriate words

but i noticed my daughter using this and some of the additions to the stories had adult references albeit subtle but definately adult

i am writing this because my sister inlaw has checked her sons activity on the site and has come across the same innuendo filled stories

it is a lovely website for children to make friends with other neopets fans but i would recommend that you check who is asking to be your childrens neofriend and keep a wary eye on the story section

Depsite having a teenage son and a 7 year old I am afraid I have no Idea what neopets are[msnscared]

Maybe I should do a search on the PC just to make sure they are not signed up

Yes John Mizzy is talking about Neopets, (it wouldnt be here!)

Thanks Mizzy will check on my daughter, she has been with Neopets since last year and not a 10 year old really, 15 in disguise i think, dont need any inuendos for her to pick up on, to bright for her own good at times!![msnwink]

Yes I personally dont allow my children to go on this site due to 2 years ago they went on or a similar type as I cant recall the name and there were sexual innuendos in the conversations which obviously lead us to believe that something was wrong and they werent young children. Due to the nature of my husbands job we had to check it out and the site was closed down. As I mentioned the only problem is I am not quite sure if it was this website or something very similar. Apparently when we got some sort of an explanation( in as much as they were allowed) it appears we werent the only parents who complained.

I personally do not agree with these type of websites for children, unless of course it is regulated 24 hours. Sadly we dont want our children to come across vile people who may influence our children. so thank you for the warning mizzy!

It is good that these sort of sites are brought to the notice of parents.
Sadly some parents are not aware......
Others are not as "vigilent" as to what their children are reading / participating in on the net.

Sadly a sign of our times....!

we only found out about it through a student who stayed here last year, he was 18!! now the mind boggles!!!!
he was full of showing Lauren ways to get extra points!
