digital camera question - which one?

What would you recommend as a good, not-too-expensive digital camera which would be small enough to fit into a pocket/small handbag? The camera would really just be for every day (and night-time) use, in a 'point and shoot' fashion. We are researching one for my daughter, and would like something fairly basic for her to 'practise' with and really learn how to use well. I have a Nikon Coolpix 885, and have been very pleased with the quality of the photos, but it does not easily fit in a pocket!

    Emm,

I got a Pentax s40 from a camera shop in Kissimmee for about $200. It's a 4 megapixel camera so the quality is pretty good, but it's very small in size so I can carry it in my pocket all the time. (Got a tiny real leather zip case from the 192 flea market for a couple of dollars to protect it)
I'm not a camera expert at all but for "point and shoot" it does everything I need. The model I got just takes two AA batteries so I don't need to bother with chargers etc. The batteries normally last for the two week holiday easily, but even if they don't, you can buy them anywhere!
