Big Mack Goes Back : Part 4

Sorry for the delay guys but work has been hectic for the last couple of weeks. Anyway here is part 4, finally![msnembarrased]

    Wednesday 14th September

Today was to be a water park day, the in laws were staying back at the villa so it would be just the five of us. We decided to let the kids choose which water park we were going to and it was a unanimous landside victory for Blizzard Beach. I felt a little apprehensive because last year my bottle crashed and I did not go on Summit Plummet, as a result I had promised my kids that this year I would definitely be doing it however as we drew nearer and nearer to the entrance I started wondering if I just might regret having made that little promise! [msneek]

We arrived at the gates around 09:45 and started to get organised for them opening at ten. My sister in law purchased a sports bottle for $10 which you can fill up with soft drinks all day long, what’s more if you bring it back with you on another day $6 gets you a barcode sticker which you put on your sports mug and hey presto unlimited soft drinks again!

Once the gates opened we set off for the spot we had last year on the deck area next to the ski patrol training camp. This meant that when us adults were knackered we could crash out and watch the kids splash about like loonies. Once we had staked our claim (put towels down!) on several loungers we started off for the slides. When we reached the stairs that take you to the top my kids were desperate to go on Slush Gusher, both my wife and her sister are a couple of scardy cats and so they stayed at the bottom to watch. Once we reached the top of the stairs I left my kids in the line for Slush Gusher, took a deep breath and headed for the stairs that lead you to the Summit![msnscared]

My kids were looking at me in awe as I started to climb the stairs, however I was feeling less than confident. As I climbed higher and higher the wind seemed to get stronger and you could literally see for miles and miles. Once I reached the top I was determined that I was going to do it, there was no way that I was going to do the walk of shame all the way back down. There was hardly any line at all (which is probably a good thing!) and so within seconds I took my seat and waited for the smiling lifeguard to lift the bar. With a little push I was away, over the side and dropping like a stone. I managed to catch a few seconds of the view before the spray forced me to shut my eyes. The falling part is over in seconds and then you are sent skimming over water, which feels like concrete, until you eventually come to rest at the end.

Well that was it, I had finally tamed the famous “Plummet” and I must say the feeling of accomplishment and the looks on my kids faces went some way to making up for the pain in my backside which felt as if Miss Whiplash had paid me a visit and had decided to stay the night. Suffice to say I would be rather tender for the next few days, much to everyone’s amusement. We then proceeded to do all of the other slides, starting with Team boat springs and working our way around. My favourite still has to be the Toboggan Racers, which is great fun and really brings out the competitor in you. This is one race where being a fatty actually seems to help and I was unbeaten the whole day much to the disappointment of my son who is so light he hardly makes it to the finish line!

With all of the slides done and our stomachs starting to tell us it was time for food we headed over to Lottawotta Lodge and had some burgers and fries. We then spent some time chilling out and reading our books while the kids went to town in the Ski Patrol Training camp. Once we were rested we collected the kids and did all of the slides again, we finished off our day at BB with a leisurely float around the lazy river before heading back to the ranch.

We had decided on the way home that since the in laws had been home alone all day we would let them decide where we would eat that night. It was no surprise
