January sales?

Over the last few years the 'January sales' begin mid-December in many U.K. stores.
Does anyone know if this is the case in Florida as we love shopping there & may need to leave extra space in the suitcase for a few bargains?

Sales start the day after Thanksgiving at about 5 or 6am and go on into January.
