Monday 12th September
Thankfully today was a rest day, I say thankfully because we were all in desperate need of a lie in. It takes a few days for us to get over the travelling and the time difference, but for some reason this year I felt even more knackered than I did last year. My family say that I am getting old, I say that because last year was our first trip the adrenaline kept me going!!!! [msnwink]
After a lie in and a light breakfast we started to set up camp by the pool, well the adults were by the pool of course the kids……they were in the pool. We were not out for very long before we started to get attacked by tiny little flies who had an annoying habit of aiming for my ears. This started to get right on my wick and so I decided a tidy up and wash down around the pool area might help get rid of them. I found some brooms and the hose and got too work. Pretty soon the place was spotless and the flies seemed to have got the message, however my cleaning campaign had disturbed some other residents. One of the pillars holding the roof up was covered in little red ants. [msnscared] Well this totally freaked out the girls and within seconds they were off to Publix to get some ant killer. When they got back I got to work spraying and the ants all disappeared. Finally we could sit back and relax without the threat of the local wildlife having a go at us!!
Although this was a day of rest I had promised the ladies in our party that we would visit one of the famous shopping malls during our trip, and after spending all day by the pool we decided that tonight was as good a time as any to go. So after everyone got showered and changed we saddled up and headed for the Florida Mall.
We arrived about 6.30 and spent the next 2 hours wandering around. This place is massive and was pretty busy with shoppers. Women drive me crazy, after going to all this effort they came out of the mall with the grand total of ZERO purchases! I was the only one who actually bought anything. With their pathetic excuses ringing in my ears we headed of down Orange Blossom Trail towards the 192. This journey seemed to take forever and it did not help that we got stopped at every single set of lights (and there are a few). Finally about 50 minutes later we pulled into the car park of the Longhorn Steakhouse. It was now 9:15 and we were starving. I really like the Longhorn it has a real country and western feel to it and they do superb steaks. We had a lovely meal here and then headed back to the ranch. Once more the Budweiser’s were safe as I crashed out as soon as we got into the villa. So three days into the holiday and the 24 bottles that I bought on Saturday were now down to 22. I am going to give us Scots a bad name if I am not careful!!![msnembarrased]
Tuesday 13th September
Today was Busch Gardens day so an early rise was in order, thankfully Busch did not open until 10am so it was not too early. We left around 8:45 and were not really sure how long it would take. The villa information folder suggested around 1 hour and 20 minutes so we were very pleased to find ourselves parked in the car park exactly one hour later. We were even more pleased that we had not gotten ourselves lost in the process! None of us had been to Busch Gardens before so we were all really excited and looking forward to it. If my daughter asked me once what rides she could go on she asked me a million times. Although there were only three of the real big rides that she was too small for she still was not happy, even after I explained that i would probably not be going on all of them either. Typical women!
As we entered the park we headed left and the first ride we encountered was GWAZI, this is an all wooden coaster and is pretty impressive to look at. My daughter was big enough for this one and so after finding the in laws a shaded spot to rest up we headed of to the entrance. There was no line at this time and before we knew it we were off.
