I use them all the time too. Their online screens are very easy to use and we pick up the money at the airport on our way out. Service is very quick. Never had a problem. Only thing they require is the card you used for the purchase online and ID (passport).

I have to say my service with Travelex was briallnt.

I flew out to orlando this year on the 1st September. I got paid on the 31st of August and was some what annoyed as wanted to take more dolars with me.

I have to say i heard about ordering currency 24 hrs before hand and picking it up the next day, and thought it was to good to be true.

So the 31st August I get up at 6 in the morning feeling so what nervous as i knew i would be in the airport in 24 hrs time. So i order my currency. In TC and dollars.

Come 11 the money still seems to be seating in my account still. As you can imagine i'm feeling sick [msnscared] thinking its not going to be done in time! After 5 emails and two phone calls from myself to Travel (have to say the staff were very helpful) i get an email to say the money has gone through early afternoon.

I arrived at 5.30 Gatwick, with passport and the debit card I paid with on line ,wham bham thank you ma and I away i went.

I think its worth doing and i certainly would use the service again.

Travelex was very easy to find in Gatwick - South Terminal. Right Opposite the departures

    Hope this helped.

Do you get a better rate online than at the airport? I am assuming you do.

Only thing to keep in mind is that buying currency from Travelex you have to use a debit or credit card, most banks will levy a transaction charge for this as it's classed as a cash advance.

Jeff, they would on a credit card but shouldn't on a debit card. It's just like getting cashback.

Depends on the bank, some also charge on debit cards because it's a "foreign currency transaction" even though you are just paying Travelex for a "product".

    Hi

Just thought I would post an update to my original question.

I went through with the Travelex transaction after the feedback from everyone and can report back that Travelex were excellent.

I used our debit card on-line to order currency and TC's - there were no additional charges - excellent.

My on-line transaction: I selected the guaranteed buy-back option. Again, I lost nothing on the transaction when we returned. Excellent.

The rate was also excellent - better than my other quotes from the high st, post office etc..

Altogether - I couldn't fault the service or exchange rate - 10/10. It couldn't be better. Travelex will be my first option next trip.

    Hope this is of help.

American express had a great deal on - $250 dollars extra if you purchased over £1000 of $. Not sure if the offer is still on
