<blockquote id="quote" class="ffs">quote:Travel city, will charge you about fifty pounds per-person if you do not take there car hire.[/quote]

    £50? if only!

My sister-in-law was given a price of £239 from TCD. I was in Florida and she didn't need a car. The price without a car was £403.

They would not let her(me) book the flight unless she paid hundreds of pounds for the car insurance.

The ABTA(Association of British Travel Agents) code states that there should be no hidden charges. However TCD's adverts do not mention their compulsory, and excessive, car insurance charges.

Horrible firm - the 'Spivs' of the charter flight industry.

TCD operate on the very edge of legitimacy and will use every trick there is to catch the unwary and unexperienced traveller.

If you try to turn down the insurance for the car they ask for a "returnable deposit" of several hundred pounds purely to deter people from doing it. I wouldn't touch their offerings with a bargepole.

Booked 3 week Fly-Drive through Virgin for August this year but it only included 1 week car hire. Upgrade to 3 weeks was EXPENSIVE! So, booked car through link above and didn't pick up the 'Virgin' one. Had no problems or comeback.

I was told one time with a fly-drive that I could book and pay one day and then take the car back as it was pay when you are finished type so if I kept it more days would pay when I brought back the car..Never ended up doing it anyway but that is because I really didnt need a car.

I am planning on not picking my car up next month on a Virgin Fly Drive. I have gone through the T's a C's on my invoice and on the Virgin holidays website from where I booked the holiday. There is nothing in the fine print to say you must pick up the car.

I will certainly fight it if they try to bill me for not taking the car
