    Tarpon Springs

I think someone has already written about this-possibly Julie-but as we have just come back thought I would mention it.

It's just up from Clearwater and it is where they collect the natural sponges. There's a huge greek influence in the area as the sponge workers originally came from Greece.

Really quaint place-very laid back. We ate at Hellas resytaurant and took a boat trip on the Island Wind which at $7 for 75mins was excellent value.

A nice change if you want to try something different

Yes, it was me, OB. It is a really unusal place. Being in my Weeki Wachee/ Homosassa Springs area which is one of our stomping grounds, we have been a couple of times. You can combine it with either of the above to make a good full day out. Plenty of spongey type gift shops. Sponges are dear ( natural sponges are) but cheaper than they are elsewhere.
