    Florida in October

Family are mulling over October half term holidays as being a possible choice for Florida meet up in 2008. Taking two weeks, one week before the UK half term, and the half term holiday for the second week. I wondered if the US schools have similar holidays....and would this result in October being a busy time to go.

I know it will be a bit chillier, and we will need pool heating I guess. Wondered what the queues would be like for that time of year?

Would houses be in high season to rent at that time also?

During oct time some villa owners don't increase their prices, but some do, so it is a bit mix and match on that one.

As for queues, you will find that there are more people going to be in Orlando during a school break period. The parks in Florida are designed for loads of people and they can handle this.

I would go for pool heat as the eve will be cooler and it is nice to be able to not be restricted when you can use the pool.

I am not too sure of the Oct School holidays from a US point of view and would not like to give you wrong info.

    hope this helps

October is an excellent time to visit. We are going out the last 2 weeks of October as my kids school gives us 2 weeks holiday starting this year.
We've been October twice before. The crowds have always been very reasonable. The slightly lower temperature makes the walking a lot easier and you can still expect it to be sunbathing and water park weather - perhaps a little cooler in the evening but certainly the daytime should be very nice.
I'm not sure about US holidays - I think its a bit early for them as they tend to have time off around thanksgiving in November but I'm sure there is someone on the forum who will know.
I would have thought most villas would be mid to high season at this time as it is a popular time for villa rentals but renting a villa is such good value compared to a hotel anyway.
Definitely yes to pool heating in October - and make sure you use the pool blanket to keep the water nice and warm overnight for an early morning swim.

October is not too busy. Its a great time because the weather is beautiful.
The Food and Wine Festival is on at Epcot and the queues are lower than during the summer.

We are off to Orlando on the 6th of October this year, I have spoken to a friend of mine who lives in Texas and she says there are no US holidays in October, so all being well queues should be slightly smaller, fingers crossed[msnscared]

Being an American I know their are no school holidays on the Month of October. Halloween falls on Monday the 31st of Oct but is not an official holiday. So I am sure you will have a great time and now find the parks overly crowded at this time of the year.

Take a look out the window in England in October!

It's great time to go, we generally go then, never had a problem.

We visited during Oct half term last year Twiglet.
The weather was glorious and most evenings I didn't need even a cardi and spent the time with it tied around my waist.
Wait times were fairly short and we used fast passes for the busier rides, but in all honesty we didn't really need them.
We visited the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal which was great fun, but not really suitable for little ones, and the houses in Celebration all decked out with their Halloween decorations were a sight not to be missed.
I would definitely visit at this time of year again!!
