    Advice on transport to Airport

    Hi everyone,
    My 1st post here.
This may seem like a trivial question, but I'll ask anyway.
I'm off to Florida on the 22nd of Sept for 2 weeks from Manchester, I'm travelling from the North east, we usually park the car up in one of the many airport car parks (usually the cheapest) but this year I'm thinking about booking on the train..
    Question.
    What's everyone’s opinion on this?
    Train v Car?
    Thanks in advance.

It depends on what time you need to be at the airport? Would you come the night before and stay in an airport hotel? I am not sure which would be best but if it was me I would stick with my car - I am in control then[msnwink]

Hi Peter, welcome to the forum, can't say we have travelled to the airport on a train. We usually book an airport taxi to take us, as we hate driving back from the airport after a night flight home, it can take 2.5 hours.[msnsmile2]

As I understand it there is a covered walk way from the train station to the airport, people I know that have used it say its fine. But for long haul don't forget you will have to drag all your luggage with you.
As suggested above why not have a look around the internet and see if any of the local hotels are doing the fly and park packages - at least you wont have to se off as early in the morning!

We always book Taxi too, I am sure there is a firm that does off site parking and then takes you to the airport. If we fly anywhere from Leeds /Bradford we drive and use off site parking.

I don't know if a company called purple parking have a place near Manchester, but we used them when we flew from Heathrow this year as they convert our Tesco clubcard vouchers at the rate of £4 for every £1 voucher, so we got three weeks parking for absolutely nothing with our £25 worth of vouchers. They also do a meet and greet to take your car from you at the departure terminal and return it to you when you get back.

hi Patkin welcome to the forum. you don't say if you'll be going on the train on the morning of your flight, personally i like to avoid travelling far on that morning, paranoid about delays and other hitches I suppose.
We tend to stay in an airport hotel and park the car up for 2 weeks, it usually costs about £90 combined . i'd also consider lugging all that shopping on the return trip[msnwink]

    have a great trip [msnsmile2]

hi we have used the train twice before but on the second trip the train detoured into piccadilly and we had to change ,there was only the two of us but as I can't lift anything my husband found it difficult to change trains with luggage, but we did enjoy the train journey the cost was only 18pounds each return from sheffield so good value

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for all of your advice, we Fly @ 11:00am so it means a early drive down, staying overnight the night before sounds good right now.
Ahhhhh..2 weeks from now we should be there[msnsmile2][msnsmile2][msnsmile2]
