    Washing Powder and Bleach????

Is it just me that doesn't understand the american washing powders avaialble in Publix?

Whats the difference between our washing powder and the american stuff? why does it have bleach added to it?

I don't use bleach on my clothes at home, would it damage my clothes if I used the american stuff?

I normally take some Persil out with me but would rather not have to?

    any clues??[msnembarrased][msnembarrased]

I normally just by Tide in Florida, because I like the smell of it, I never noticed there was bleach in it [:O] - I must look when I am over.

I now take good old Persil colour tablets for our coloureds and then I do not mind buying something from Walmart to wash the whites.

Many of the UK powders contain a bleaching agent , unless they are just for coloured.

You can pick up bleach free ones in America - they sell them in Walmart and publix - just need to do a bit of label reading as they are not the norm.

A lot of USA detergents do have added bleach, but you can get brands that don't.

It can be a little confusing, but if you have a good read of the labels, you should be ok.

I cannot use any biological washing powder because of sensitive skin so I took my own supply of Persil non bio last time and have a fresh supply of Fairy non bio ready and waiting to go in my suitcase in October. I get so itchy when using any other powders it's not worth the risk.

We normally buy Tide as well as we recognise the name and are unsure about the others and the bleach.

    Hi Liesa

Yes they do have sensitive skin powders, just have to look for them, not many but they are there, could even be in the baby dept. We didn't have any problems buying non bleach powders.[msnsmile2]
