    voltage

This may be a silly question.....I have a hairdryer that is 120volts.
Would that work in the US or will it be less powerful?

    Thank You
    Nic

As far as I know it should be fine. Hairdryers from the Uk do work, but they run very slow so it take you ages to dry your hair. If you are staying in a villa ask the owner if hair dryers are provided, they usually are and that will save your luggage space.

Nic, yes you can use your hairdryer, it will be normal power but you will need to take an adaptor, hope this help.

Nearly all UK electrical things will work in the US but becuase the US has a lower voltage than the uk (110V ish) sometimes thing take longer to use eg phone chargers etc

120 is ok right for the US

I take it you don't use it in the UK, it will blow up or melt if you do.[:O]

US is also 60hz IIRC, which will affect motor speeds, but enough to cause a problem for a hair dryer.

If you have any problems go to walmart and buy one. My wife needed 110v ones, she got the same model (other than voltage) as her UK ones for £8. Her UK ones were £29!

We bought some last year too.

Very cheap and worth having an American one if you plan to visit regularly. Or as already mentioned, many villa owners provide them.

Before we had our villa I took a hairdryer and it did work but it was so slow it would have been quicker to get somebody to blow on your hair![msntongue] They are so cheap to buy in Walmart it is not worth taking up valuable luggage space and most villas now have a hairdryer in each bathroom as well as straighteners.
