Petrol (Gas) Prices in Key West

Being a canny Scot I would like to share this with anyone who may be considering a drive down to Key West from Miami or further afield.

To my shock/horror I discovered that petrol was 30cents a gallon dearer in Key West than in Florida City and Key Largo.
I know fuel is cheap in the USA at $1.50/gallon but a 20% price hike in 126 miles is a bit much to take no matter how touristy the area is.

Unfortunately I was on fumes by the time I reached Key West (driving directly through from Orlando) and had to take the hit but hopefully some other people will learn from this post!

This is known to the locals, read in one of the guide books a recomendation for those going to the Keys is to fly to Miami get everything there and drive down
