US camcorders will generally play on a UK TV, as the TV will self adjust to the signal if it is a newer type. However, you are stuck with an inferior picture 525 lines(US)instead of 625 lines(UK),and it is unlikely that you can copy the tape to a UK VCR. They do not auto lock like a TV.

If you are only saving a few quid I would stick to a UK model.

Sony do International Warranties so no probs there just ask for a PAL (UK) camera[msnwink]
