Be careful what you put in your luggage....

Interesting story about what happens to lost luggage, seems like the airlines don't try that hard to re-unite you with your bags.

I guess the morale of the story is not to pack anything you would miss...... Easier said then done.

If the dimwits had put an address label inside the cases then this would not happen.

I made the comment on there that if Dom Joly bought 15 cases and was able to locate 3 owners from details written inside that if the "system" had spent 3 months trying to reunite them were they using staff who can actually read?

If airlines were charged five thousand pounds for every single case they lose this wouldn't happen either. [msnwink]

The cases are not opened at the auction only after they have been sold. So any addresses inside, I doubt the person who won the auction is going to return anything.

If the airlines don't open the cases to try and reunite owners with their bags then why do they always tell us to put our contact details inside?

They do or should open them at the airport. We had bags returned that were lost on two occasions du to no labels on the outside.

Thtat's what Dom JOly did, but as they are supposed to have tried extensively to reunite them, and we are advise not to lock them then ther eis noreason not to open them and see if there are any other contact detail inside. we use cale ties so they can open them easily, after all they can open them to inspect if they choose to so would think that was worth trying if they dont have any external evidence.
