    I don't think we should encourage people to try to either smuggle stuff or not declare what should be declared.

    If the item is worth £145 (about US$254) then you can bring it back as your Duty Free allowance. If you go to the UK Customs website http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsP...ageTravel_Home (sorry, it's a long link!) then you'll get some answers - the internet shopping link gives some info about VAT and duty payable.

    UPS can ship it and do a fine job of ensuring it gets to the other end as well. I have done this many times and never had a problem. The branch at Championsgate are really helpful.

    I have bought 3 Guitars over the years and never had a problem bringing them back as part of our luggage allowance. The thing is to make sure you have a hard bodied case. Shipping can be very expensive from the US sometimes making it no cheaper than buying it here. I always go to George music store opposite Wet n Wild.
