I did the DIY check - in early June this year. Booked in on line the day before we left. YOu will need all names, passport details etc. It worked well and we got through in about 5 mins as there was nobody waiting.

Will be trying this in 2 weeks, when we leave for Florida. Is there a special desk to go too at Manchester Airport. Plus can you turn up a bit later also.

All you have to do is:
arrive at the airport at least 60 minutes prior to departure
swipe your passport, Flying Club membership card (or other frequent flyer card) credit card or enter your Virgin Atlantic booking reference
select your destination
enter your details
confirm your personal and passport details are correct
choose your seat
collect your boarding card and any other documents (Clubhouse invitation or eticket receipts, if applicable)
go to the DIY Check In Bag Drop** desk to check your bag in
head to Departures.
This latest innovation is in addition to the online DIY Check In launched on this website over the summer. Any passengers can use online DIY Check In before they leave home or the DIY Kiosks at the airport.
*Certain restrictions apply.
**Our Bag Drop facility will close 60 mins prior to the scheduled departure time of the flight. Passengers who have failed drop their bags by this time will not be able to travel.
That makes things alot clearer. It's nice to have some idea what is required especially when its the first time we will be doing this.
Many Thanks Mach2
Will still arrive at the Airport in plenty of time though.

We are going to check in on-line tomorrow for our flight on Sunday - so hoping it's as easy as it sounds!![msncool]
Oh yes, forgot to ask - if you check in on line where do you go to when you get to the airport?

We checked in on line when we went in March. When we got to the airport we just went to the Virgin DIY desk which was the last Virgin desk on the left. It is easy to spot. They checked our passports and e-tickets and that was it it took the 4 of us about 2 minutes. [msnsmile]
On line check in is very very easy - you just check in on line 24 hours before the flight - simple - if you have pre allocated your seats you just confirm that you still want them - or you can move to other seats - but there wasnt much choice left when we did it - so I would advise pre booking seats as soon as you get your tickets.
Once you get to the airport just go to DIY check in - which is with the premier plus check in - and normally no queue and thats it - it takes all the stress out of checking in.
Then on the return journey - you check in at down town disney between 8am - 1pm and again you dont have to be at the airport until 1 hour before the flight.
If you go have a look at the Virgin Atlantic Web Site there is loads of information - even down to the films showing!
Diane.
