    Taking a Sat Nav

I am planning on taking my Sat Nav system with me to Florida and wondered whether there is any problem with taking it through the airport. Will it be affected by the xray machine or will it be ok.

I suspect there will be no problems as it is only like a laptop computer.

It should be fine with the Xray but does it have a USA data base with Florida maps etc? If not it will be off limited use.

That's right. I recently bought a Navman 510 but to use it in the USA I would have to buy the US maps at over £100.

If you do not want to buy the USA maps we are renting out quality Sat Nav units with full USA maps. We will even program in your villa as the home location. More info available here http://www.uscarhire.co.uk/sat-nav.aspx

Yes, we considered taking our Tom Tom Go but the USA database was £175.00... the cost outweighs the advantages.

It is a Tom Tom Go that I am taking complete with the Maps of USA on an SD card which I have just bought for £125.I know that sounds expensive but I use my Sat Nav here in the UK and find it invaluable so imagine it will be just as useful in Florida.

I bought the SD card from the link below,it is the whole of USA on one SD card.

They are now widely available even from the Tom Tom website, but at the time I bought mine this was the only place that had them in stock.

I particularly like the fact that you can preview the routes you will take before hand and pre program all the places you are going to visit.
