So glad it all went well. I'm delighted the space program is back on track.

When the shuttle comes back does it land at KSC (sorry if this is a really stupid question!!) if it does is it worth going to watch? I noticed that a "Mars reconnaissance Orbiter" is going up on 10th August, again is that worth going to see?
It was an awesome site and the sky was clear blue you could see the flame coming from the shuttle. This is the clearest I have ever saw it. Glad everything went pretty smoothly!

Fantastic coverage on CNN for the shuttle launch, beautiful clear pictures. If only we could all be there what an awsome sight. My grandson watched it with me for the first time so I guess we wil be building rockets, shuttles etc for the rest of the school holidays...[msnwink]

The shuttle does not always land in Florida, but this time it is scheduled to. I haven't seen a landing in person, but I do remember reading a post some months ago that the landing wasn't as exciting since it lands like a plane on a very long runway.
I think it worth it to watch any of the large rockets going into space if you have the chance.

We had tickets to the launch when it was originally scheduled in May, just happens to be out here from Thursday and left to see the launch at 5.30am traffic was so bad, we only managed to get to the causeway to see it launch. We were finaly let in the center at 12.00 after Mrs Bush left. Did my lunch with an astronaunt by that time I was starving. stayed around to see launch extra they put on etc and then left about 5.00pm.
The shuttle is due back at 5.30am I have asked if I can get tickets to the landing, but they have said that they do not sell landing tickets if you are here you can see it. but as the time is before the centre is open no-one will be here.
They have told us there are another to launches of rockets one from Cape Canveral and one from Kennedy in the coming two weeks. The cape cavernal lanuch is a boeing launch so you will have to check there website for exact dates as it has been bumped twice already.
The next launch is due to be September, which is Atlantis, it is already prepared in the hanger, as a standby for Discovery.
We have already booked for October unfortuntely so will miss this one , hopefully the missions will be back on track and will get to see one up close next time.
Just a small note, after one of the astronauts told us at lunch
There will be no more manufacturing of any shuttles, theses will be the last ones used, as they are already 30 years old, They will only be flying upto the year 2010, when the space station is due to be complete. they are in the process of manufacturing a new transporter, but is still in the project stage.
We are going out on Friday for a month, so we will go and see the rocket going up, where would be the best spot to view it?
Vanessa
We were told to try cocoa beach or port carneval or he said something like k something beach.
You will have to check the times as I think it is going of early morning.
We're hoping to get to see Atlantis go up as its' window is from 9-23rd Sept and we are in Florida from 12-23rd so we're keeping our fingers crossed.
How dou you get tickets?
