    Flying from Australia to Florida

Has anyone flown from Oz to Florida? Just looking on line and making enquiries, most Australians go to Disney California, and so all the good deals are that direction!

It seems hard to get flights around the world, that will allow me to fly Melbourne to Florida to London to Melbourne, as we will get a round the world ticket!

The best I have found is Star Alliance round the world ticket, which is based on kms, rather than flight paths.

Would be interested to know if anyone has made a similar trip.

Sounds obvious but have you tried to get a ticket with Quantas?

Yes Qantas will code share it, flying with United, but its great to pick people's brains and suss out the best routes.

I have heard dreadful things about United from West Coast down to Oz. Its a very long flight, and I want to go with a really good airline that have heaps of entertainment on board for the kids, as its 24 + hours flight to get thru!

Actually BA were brilliant with us one time, but we flew the other way, via Asia. I could look into BA, they have all the 'back of seat' entertainment gear now.

My brother lives in Oz and came over to meet us in Florida a couple of years ago. He flew from Sydney to LA, LA to Dallas or Houston (can't remember which) and then onto Orlando. Flights took 30 hours + because of the time spent waiting for connecting flights. I will point out that he had budget restrictions so I am sure that there must be direct flights from LAX to MCO.

One of our sons met us in Orlando. He came from Sidney to SanFransisco to Vegas(?) then down to Orlando. He could have gone direct to Orlando, but wanted to see Vegas. He used all Star Alliance flights.

I've just done a quick search and there are obviously no non-stop flights. I looked at flights in January from Melbourne and 1 stop flights offered by Qantas and Delta. 2 stop flights offered by AA, UA, QF. AA was the cheapest and took 27 hr 59 mins around US$2552.

When you've an idea of what your schedule and flights are you may like to consider Tampa or Miami to compare costs etc.

    Have fun planning your trip.

Wow thanks for the info guys.
Taylona that's so kind of you to look up those sectors for me, I didn't know about Delta, so there you go, its worth asking isn't it!

OMG 27hrs 59mins, hey lets call it 28 hrs! Then there's the flight to the UK....Fun! Fun! Fun!
