    Dial up Internet connection

    Hello all,

Can anyone help me in finding an Intenet Service Provider in Florida that is free to dial into? Is this possible? The villa I am staying in does not have a dedicated connection set up, so I was just going to dial up using the phone line, but wanted something that doesn't cost the earth. [msnscared][msneek][msnoo]

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Try http://www.budgetdialup.com/ which should do what you're askng for although there is a charge for the service - info here for short term. http://www.budgetdialup.com/html/learn_usrtemp.htm

    Thanks Blott,

Just looking at it now and it seems ideal. One quick (and probably stupid) question, would I need to purchase this before I travel.....duh, thinking about it I probably would wouldn;t I? [msnembarrased][msnembarrased]

    Can you confirm though?

Well... you wouldn't be able to get onto the internet to purchase it without having it first so I guess the answer's yes. [msnwink]

If I were you, I'd go with the no software option (green here http://www.budgetdialup.com/html/get.htm ) as sometimes people have problems with using the downloaded software.

    How incredibly stupid of me[msnembarrased][msnembarrased]

I used to think of myself as, at least, slightly technical in nature......guess I'll have to rethink that one!!!

    Thanks again Blott

I'm taking a laptop (mainly to download pictures to) but might also try this Dialup service. I assume a UK modem lead will not work though because of the wrong connection, do you just pick up a US one from Walmart ?

You can buy modem telephone connector changers in the UK from places like PC World but you can also get them in the US.

    Good point Rich-n-Ang,

I have a feeling that the connectors are an international standard, but judging by my earlier questions, I could be very wrong on that!!![msnwink][msnembarrased]

UK and US telephone connections are different sizes (UK are longer and thinner, US ones are shorter and fatter!) so you'd need a connector adaptor. Sorry Phil! [msnwink]
