We had 2.5 hours between flights this year and would say that it about the right amount of time between flights. You just dont know how long immigration will take you. We did Manchester to Boston last year and had 2 hours between flights and only just made it. We did have to get onto a bus and change terminals where as in Philly you can walk. (Be aware you have to go through the scanners/security again when you change in Philly)

    One hour is tight; however:

It is most likely they will delay your connecting flight if you are not on time. The airline does not like to fly with empty seats if it can avoid it. Also once your hold luggage is on the plane it will not leave without you.

If you do miss the connection they will put you on a later flight.

Personally I would not go for the later flight when the chances are you will get on the earlier flight anyway; and if you don't get on the earlier flight - you get the later flight.

You would look a little silly if you book a later flight now and see all your fellow passengers on the earlier flight.

But if the later flight is fully booked you won't get on it unless you are booked on it.

If there is a flight with a 2 hour connection and a flight with a 1 hour connnection - I would choose the 2 everytime. It's easy to fill an hour with a drink and a stretch of legs.

like other people said, if they sell you the ticket you will mske the connection, assuming the plane lands on time etc, put as there is 10 of you it will take longer to clear immi, so i would try and get a later connection, if you cant get a later connection and you miss your flight you will get put on another flight anyway, so there isnt realy anything to worry about.
We did O'hare in a 45 minute connection time.

    Jo,
I think if there are at 10 on the trip, and very probably others taking the same connecting flight, they will hold the flight. Particularly if the flight an hour later is fully booked.

If the airline make the booking for the early flight it is their problem, let them sort it out.

As with most things its down to indivdual choice.
Having ran the length of an airport to just catch a connecting flight at Newark with Continental , which our suitcases missed, maybe I am cautious.[msnembarrased]

    Your choice Maureen!

I would go for the later flight, it is stressful enough traveling and if you get even a slight delay on the first sector you will spend the whole flight over worrying about the connection[msnscared] You would only need to a bit of holding going in and that's it you miss it, plus the bags need to make it too!

But as has been said it is your choice at the end of the day[msnwink][msnwink]

We flew via Atlanta a couple of years ago and although it was tight we did not have any problems.

We did this on Boxing Day - 45 minutes connection time (we were told that this would be enough)The plane was late leaving Heathrow and there were very strong headwinds so the flight took nearly 1 hour longer than usual. When we got there (Sunday) we were told they couldn't get us down to Orlando until TUESDAY ! After a lot of dashing around we had an overnight stay at Phili and got a flight at 4.00pm to Clearwater/St Petes airport. So I will always make sure we have plenty of time between connecting flights in future!
