Couldnt believe it when I switched on the news here in the US this morning. My daughter works in the Bank of England and commutes in. I finally managed to get through to her and she is OK, they are in a high security area so they have locked them in the bank. There is lots of coverage on the news, interviews with Bush etc.

my brother simon works in canary wharf and travels in london every day. As a family we are relieved he is ok and his family.
My thoughts are with those families who as yet havent heard any news of their family members. I hope all those online have heard good news about their families as most replies I have read seem to be ok. Terrible evil attack on innocent people going about their everyday life. My prayers and thoughts with all those families effected. Im sickened and shocked and saddened!!

Having worked in a hospital in London for over 20 years during the worst of the IRA bombings, I unfortunately know just how everything must be going now. I'm also thinking that the emergency services are doing a great job in reacting so quickly. This is the one type of event that everyone trains for but hopes never happens.
I know some of you must be worried sick about friends or relatives but at least you have the knowledge that they're safe. I hope your loved ones get back safely as soon as possible. Unfortunately some people don't have that reassurance and my thoughts are especially with the families and friends of those who have been killed or injured.
Cowards isn't the word I would use for them nor was the word I used for the IRA and no, I'm not going to repeat it here. These people are just despicable fanatics to whom human life holds no meaning.

Press conference as I type - 33 confirmed fatalities. Police can confirm 3 devices exploded in underground 1 on a bus. Aid services stretched to limits with all kinds of injuries. 100 ambulances involved - 300 staff. 40 Fire engines in attendance and 200 staff involved. Underground services unlikely to resume until tomorrow. All trains have to be removed, checked and taken back to a secure base. Bus services now returned to zone 1. Buses will not run in affected areas. All buses are having a thorough check before they go out and when they get back to the depot. An appeal has been made for people to stagger their journeys home. Congestion charge has been dropped for today. There have also been communication/network problems which are being worked on at the moment.

They are also using the Thames as a means of transport to get people from Central to East and West London.
Kevin is just about to board a boat going from Westminster down to Canary Wharf and hopefully North Greenwich, and then see what transport he can get from there to our son's home.
